The music magazine released an exclusive album comprised of different cover versions of the popular songs that were created by the iconic Gothic Rock band, The Cure.

The popular English rock band, The Cure, was crowned NME’s “Godlike Geniuses” at this year’s Shockwave NME Awards on February 26, 2009. In honor of the iconic band, being both honored at the awards show and headlining the event; the music magazine released an exclusive album of cover songs, which was included as a surprise addition to their monthly issue.

The 14 track album, which was thoughtfully named “Pictures of You”, contains a variety of cover versions of The Cure’s greatest hits, which had been created by different alternative rock artists over the years. The album begins with a remarkable dialogue from The Cure’s lead vocalist and front man, Robert Smith. In the introduction to the album, “Pictures of You”, the Gothic rock band’s lead singer and last original member, provides a detailed speech on the different techniques that musicians can use to implement a successful cover song.

  7. A Forest” by British Sea Power - The song was originally released in 1980, from the album, “Seventeen Seconds”.
  8. Primary” by The Dandy Warhols - The song was originally released in 1981 from the album, “Faith”.
  9. Close To Me” by The Get Up Kids - The song was originally released in 1985 from the album, “The Head on the Door”.
  10. The Lovecats” by The Futureheads - The song was originally released in 1983 from the album, “Japanese Whispers”.
  11. “Catch” by Art Brut - The song was originally released in 1987 from the album, “Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me”.
  12. “Fascination Street"by Metronomy - The song was originally released in 1989 from the album, “Disintegration”.
  13. Cut Here” by Alkaline Trio - The song was originally released in 2001 from a compilation album featuring The Cure’s greatest hits.

“Pictures of You” is an awesome compilation of creative cover versions of a few of the British rock band, The Cure’s, greatest songs and acts as a perfect tribute to the iconic Gothic rock group.
